INSTRUCTIONS

TASK 1
For our first lesson we had to create a small moodboard of our character to have a rough idea of what we wanted. The theme was that our character needed to be a humanoid from a historical or cultural era, and that their design would need to be suitable in a MOBA arena. At first, I thought about mixing the wild wild west and the victorian era together, to create a steampunk design. However, I realised that coming up with a plot for that might've been too complicated.
I really wanted my character to be an alien, or at least a character that had exaggerated features such long ears. After showing Ms Anis our initial moodboard, we then continued on to creating a more detailed moodboard that included the lore of the setting of our characters. We also had to create silhouettes.

After presenting it to Ms Anis and my classmates, they gave me feedback that my character is overpowered, since she can use her tail as a weapon as well, which is unfair. Additionally, the fact that she can use poison alongside fire. However, Ms Anis likes the outfit choices I used as my inspo. I made some corrections to her abilities such giving her abilities more weaknesses, not using her tail as a weapon and getting rid of the option to use poison. Here is the corrected version:

Based off the silhouettes I drew, I added more detail.

TASK 2
Moving on from the 1st task, I began completing my character's full turnaround with color. I made some changes to her color to make it sharper and more exaggerated. I also designed a few variations of her daggers before settling on the curved one. Additionally, we were tasked to create our character's alternate skin. I wanted to create a dark form for her, which is her at her most powerful state. To convey this, I made a skin for her that makes her seem dangerous yet confident at the same time.  Lastly, we had to draw our character's poses. I had a lot of fun with this since I enjoy drawing poses, especially if they're exaggerated such as my character doing an air attack.

FINAL TASK
For the final task we had to create the hero pose for our character. These were my initial poses:

Ms Anis recommended that I either use the 1st or 3rd pose. I decided to go wit the 3rd pose since he makes her seem more powerful. I then went on to paint it:

After I was complete with the hero pose, I went on the compile all my work so far in a pdf.

Reflection: I really enjoyed this module as character design is one of my favorite things to draw. It was a lot of fun to come up with the different outfits for my character, and I gained a lot of new knowledge about the victorian era style of fashion. By researching various MOBA and MMORPG games, I'm now more aware of the elements that makes a good character design.
