Week 6: Project 1
For our first project we had to create a surrealistic composition using our own photos. I was thinking to make something futuristic that incorporates both technology and humans. I wanted my piece to make an impact, to highlight on just how much technology is in our lives, so much so that there's a possibility that we might even start to have technology in our bodies (much like androids).

Thankfully, my friend Angie agreed to be the model for my assignment. I took a picture of her with a serious expression on her face.
To start off, I decided to work on making parts of her face come out. After search up some tutorials on youtube on how I could make it look 3d, I figured out that the easiest way to do it is using the emboss effect.
Next up, I focused on her eyes to simulate a robotic feel.
I changed the colors to make it more unique and I used the multiply blend mode.
I added blue lines to make it seem as if there are glowing lights embedded in her skin. I also took pictures of USB ports and pasted it on her chest.
For the background, I was inspired by cyberpunk artworks as I love how the neon lights are usually presented.
Since the image quality was quite low, I decided to blur it in the background to put more focus on the subject. I then used match color to adjust the colors and I played around with the hue/saturation until I was satisfied. I also added circuit boards for the insides and pictures of cables I took to make it seem like it's coming out of her skin. I used the airbrush tool to create depth in the circuit board and the shadows for the cables.
